Welcome to SSAP

The Sustainability Solutions Applied Physics Lab is a research facility based at the University of British Columbia dedicated to incorporating the flexibility and freedom of academic research with the goal-oriented and focussed methods of industrial research and development. Through combining these two models of scientific enquiry, we hope to create an environment which is both rich and stimulating for students as well as an unique source of practical benefits for society.

We utilize a broad scope of resources, including interdisciplinary research, industrial sponsors and the range of resources available at a large international university to achieve our goals and allow students to realize their potential.

Much of the research that goes on at the Structured Surface Physics Laboratory at UBC is based on the interaction of optical wavelength light with microstructured materials, although we support and assist in a wide range of projects in the field of Physical Engineering.
